History and Hops

This event is a reschedule from Feb. 23rd.

The Seaside Museum will present History and Hops with local author, Brian Ratty.
Brian’s latest novel, ‘Firewatcher’, tells the story of Ruth Nelson, a young woman in the early 1940s whose desire to join the war effort compels her to lie about her age so she can join the fire-watchers. This book offers a glimpse into wartime heroics and WWII-era forests in the Northwest. Ratty describes ‘Firewatcher’ as “about 80% historical,” as he touches on shipbuilding during wartime, navy blimps and wildfires.
Order some food (at the counter) – remember, everyone is understaffed – maybe a beer (or two) and learn more about these incendiary balloon weapons called “pineapples” There will also be a 50/50 raffle for a cash prize. Must be present to win. Tickets will be sold on site for $1.00 each.
This event is open to the public and free to attend.
Preserving Seaside’s History since 1974, the Seaside Museum and Historical Society is a non-profit educational institution with the mission to collect, preserve and interpret materials illustrative of the history of Seaside and the surrounding area.
The museum is located at 570 Necanicum Drive, Seaside and is open Wednesday – Saturday, 11AM – 4PM.
