Seaside OR: Beachside Weddings

April 23, 2011 | by Becky Jensen

Spring is here, and love is in the air! As someone who has started talking wedding ideas with my boyfriend (and has a slew of summer weddings to attend), I’ve started thinking about where I would want to get married when it’s my turn to walk down the aisle. The North Oregon Coast is home, and Seaside is an ideal wedding destination! Seaside has incredible scenery, diverse and amazing vendors, and is within close proximity to the Portland airport for those out of town guests.

Summer can be the ideal time of year for a wedding (who hasn’t thought of being a June bride?). With the warmer weather an outdoor wedding is a feasible option. There are many spots along the beach that would be not only picturesque, but also be incredibly memorable! Can you imagine having the sea and surf as part of your wedding backdrop? You’ll want to check into permits for any public locations. If you’d rather have an indoor wedding you can find many options in Seaside- such as hotels, the convention center, and more (be creative)!

Seaside has wonderfully diverse and wonderful restaurants where you could hold a rehearsal dinner, wedding reception, or recommend to you wedding guests. From sushi, Cajun, Italian, and more, you’ll have your pick of whatever type of cuisine you’re after. There are bakeries, florists, hair salons and spas to check off all the things you’ll need for your big day. And of course, Seaside has fabulous shops where you can grab that last minute bridal party gift, or find the perfect pair of wedding shoes (flip flops are always fun for those sandy beach weddings…I want silver ones!).

Another part of the planning will include travel and lodging for your guests! Portland is close for those flying in, and the Seaside lodging options are also numerous- hotels, Inns, and B & B’s are just a few. The Circle Park RV Campground might be an option for guests who want to bring the RV or tent to do some weekend camping too!
