The Best of Times News: The Beach at the End of the Trail

August 1, 2014 | by Jon Rahl

Travel writer for the fabulous 50-and-over set, Andrea Gross, spent some time on Oregon’s North Coast in the summer of 2014. Andrea explored Seaside and fell in love with the town, much like many other visitors to the area.

Her articles are published in a variety of travel publications, both online and in print, including The Best of Times magazine, where her article about Seaside appeared in the August 2014 issue.

The beautiful historic Gilbert Inn in Seaside played host to Andrea and her husband while they were in town, and they visited several area restaurants, shops, and attractions. They enjoyed fish tacos at Firehouse Grill, a root beer float at Flashback Malt Shoppe, and sampled the tasty clam chowder at Norma’s Seafood & Steak. Wheel Fun Rentals provided some activity for burning off some calories of the day!

While in the area, Andrea toured some of our area attractions, including, of course, our world famous oceanfront Promenade, Fort Clatsop, the Tillamook Head Trail, Ecola State Park, and Cape Disappointment in Washington.

Here’s an excerpt from the article:
“Lewis and Clark traveled more than 4,000 miles searching for a water route that would span the American West. Where did they end up? On a small stretch of sand near Seaside, Oregon, 80 miles west of Portland.

Today Seaside is a popular recreational community, attracting visitors who want surf-perfect waves, abundant tide pools, good hiking and the chance to follow the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery during the last days of their journey to the Pacific.”
