Listening to the Land: The Geology of Water

TomHorning(NCLCwebsite)Listening to the Land is a winter speaker series offered January through May and organized by the North Coast Land Conservancy and the Necanicum Watershed Council, in partnership with the Seaside Public Library.

Join Seaside geologist Tom Horning as he kicks off the 2016 season, which will focus on water. “The Geology of Water” talk will take you on an imaginary tour of our shoreline through time, as seawater squished sediments into the rock that now forms our horizon, and as rain carved its canyons. Remember the hydrologic cycle you learned about in school? Tom will walk us through the cycle of rainfall and evaporation and precipitation—adding twists you may not have learned, including recent discoveries about how rain, sea, and ice have radically altered this coast in just the past 10,000 years and how they continue to shape it.
