The City of Seaside and Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District are partnering up for a new event in Seaside. The “Seaside Dash to Safety,” a 5K run/walk, will headline a series of activities aimed at raising awareness for emergency preparedness.

Alongside the 5K will be a shorter course (1.25 miles) called the Doggy Dash, where participants are encouraged to walk (or run) with their favorite canine companion. Punctuating the morning jaunts will be the Seaside Safety Fair that takes place where both races finish, Seaside Heights Elementary School. The 5K begins at 9:30am and the Safety Fair will run from 9:30am to 2:00pm and feature a bike rodeo for kids, car seat clinic, fire, ambulance and water safety education, pedestrian safety, a child I.D. clinic as well as information on north coast parenting and poison safety.

Cost to participate in the 5K or the Doggy Dash is $20 and includes a t-shirt. The Safety Fair is free to attend. To register click here or visit sunsetempire.com. Shuttle service will be provided from the Heights to both starting locations on the day of the race.
