They can view artist demonstrations, listen to an artist talk or enjoy live performances in music. The art walk is held on the first Saturday of every month, 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at businesses, shops, boutiques and dining establishments located between Holladay Drive and Broadway in the historic Gilbert District of downtown Seaside with courtesy parking available on the corner of Holladay and Oceanway.
SunRose Gallery, 606 Broadway | SunRose Gallery introduces the artwork of two new artists for May. Artful clay pinch pots by Juanita May Smith, whose pots are both decorative and functional. Also featured will be pique assiette mosaic picture frames by Gina Bryant, daughter of popular Astoria artist Chris Bryant. The phrase “pique-assiette” describes a style of mosaic that incorporates pieces of broken ceramics – plates, dishes, cups, tiles – and other found objects into the design.
The Gilbert District Gallery, 613 Broadway | The gallery, a co-op shared by artists from Washington and Oregon, is celebrating its 12th year and features original watercolors, bronzes, giclee and prints, Native American jewelry, oil paints, greeting cards, nature designs and gifts. Gallery co- owner Dave Bartholet has long played in the national arena of art. He is represented by over 200 galleries all across America. His loose suggestion of habitat combined with his attention to detail of his subjects has made his work collectible by all.
Beach Books in the Loft Gallery at 616 Broadway | Featuring The Green Cab, (a group of artists inspired by the influential BlueRider artist group (Der Blaue Reiter) of Europe in the early 20th century,) was created with the goal of encouraging and inspiring each other, sharing techniques and information about the business side of art, and sharing their work with the public. The “Cabbies” are a synergistic alliance of artists, working in a variety of mediums. Participating artists for May are Jeffery Hall, Annie Brown, Barbara Martin Elina Zeberg and Jim Zaleski.
Fairweather House and Gallery, 612 Broadway | Offers In Full Flower, an opening reception and an exquisite exhibition through the month of May featuring the perfection of flowers depicted in art and display. His art work focuses on what lies beneath appearances having reemerged back into the field of opposites, the irrational landscape, now exposed, and is stitched into the physical realm for all to see.
