FreeSeaside’s First Saturday Art Walk
Event Navigation
The Seaside First Saturday Art Walk is all about the arts. Visitors wander, meet artists, sip wine or sample appetizers by favorite restaurants or personal chefs. They can view artist demonstrations, listen to an artist talk or enjoy live performances in music. The art walk is held on the first Saturday of every month, 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at businesses, shops, boutiques and dining establishments located between Holladay Drive and Broadway in the historic Gilbert District of downtown Seaside with courtesy parking available on the corner of Holladay and Oceanway.
Featured in June at the Art Walk:
- The Gilbert District Gallery
The gallery, a co-op shared by artists from Washington and Oregon, is celebrating its 12th year and features original watercolors, bronzes, giclee and prints, Native American jewelry, oil paints, greeting cards, nature designs and gifts. Artists include Mike Sage’s incredible sculptured leaves, photographer Steve Bash and more.
Gallery co- owner Dave Bartholet has long played in the national arena of art. He is represented by over 200 galleries all across America. His loose suggestion of habitat combined with his attention to detail of his subjects has made his work collectible by all.
- Beach Books in the Loft Gallery
Featuring The Green Cab, (a group of artists inspired by the influential BlueRider artist group (Der Blaue Reiter) of Europe in the early 20th century,) was created with the goal of encouraging and inspiring each other, sharing techniques and information about the business side of art, and sharing their work with the public. The “Cabbies” are a synergistic alliance of artists, working in a variety of mediums. Participating artists for May are Jeffery Hall, Annie Brown, Barbara Martin Elina Zeberg and Jim Zaleski.
Martin comes from a line of story tellers and herbalists and the product of an internationally nomadic life. Brown paints on wooden panels, letting some of the wood show through. Zaleski combines the traditional art forms of painting and drawing with a computer world to produce art that is loaded with whimsy. Elina Zeberg works in a variety of mediums, including acrylics and encaustic (wax) painting. Ebb and Flow is the theme for June. Artist Jeffery Hall will do a sand painting demonstration during the Saturday Art Walk opening applying color inside the store. Hall enjoys using re-purposed materials in his art making process.
- Fairweather House and Gallery
Opening reception for Works on Paper, an exhibition that includes established and emerging artists who have created unique works using paper as their primary medium. The show highlights nationally known artist Patricia Clark-Finley with new works on graphite and sennelier ink on yupo. Clark-Finley, a multi-media artist with an interest in narrative and mythology, studied art and also business at the U.W. and U.C. Berkeley, and holds a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. A native of Washington State, she has studio space by the beach in Ocean Park, Washington. Many pieces from the Clark-Finley portfolio are found on labels and graphics for Mount Baker Vineyards.
