FreeWeeding the Skipanon River by Canoe
Event Navigation
The North Coast Land Conservancy (NCLC) is hosting their first-ever volunteer stewardship day by canoe. It will be on the wild, forested upper Skipanon River. NCLC conserves three properties along the Skipanon near Warrenton High School, totaling 106 acres. They will paddle canoes and kayaks, riding the tide to access the river and the invasive purple loosestrife, yellow flag iris, and ivy growing among the native spruces and sedges.
NCLC will provide canoes; you may also participate with your own canoe or kayak. Wear clothing appropriate for boating and the weather. Bring lunch, drinking water, and gloves; there are no toilets or potable water on site. NCLC will provide any necessary tools. Advance notice to Stewardship Director Melissa Reich by email at melissar@nclctrust.org or by calling (503) 738-9126 is required to ensure that their is enough space in the canoes. (Even if you plan to bring your own boat, please notify Melissa that you are coming.) Melissa will provide additional details and directions.
This stewardship day is a partnership with the Skipanon Watershed Council.
